Women's Tennis Takes Down Grace College in a 6-1 Defeat

The Holy Cross College women's tennis team had a dominant performance on Saturday, February 22, as they swept Grace College 6-0. The Saints secured victories in all three doubles matches and proceeded to win every singles matchup.

In doubles play, Holy Cross took control early, with Nicole Martinez (Villavicencio, Colombia) and Sofia Rocha (Rio de Janerio, Brazil) clinching a 6-1 win at #2 doubles over Lydia Ruegsegger and Shannon Brumbaugh. Anna Vanderhyde and Jamison Geofferys (Anderson, Indiana) completed the sweep in #3 doubles, defeating Natalie Schoenherr and Molli Runestad 6-2.

In singles, the Saints continued their strong showing. Victoria Savvidou (Limassol, Cyprus) fell during #1 singles, loosing to Jimena Ramirez 6-3, 6-0. Jamison Geofferys triumphed in a competitive match at #2 singles, edging out Alejandra Sandoval 6-1, 7-6(7-4). Sofia Rocha handled Lydia Ruegsegger with ease at #3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0.

Leah Gonzales-Edwards (London, England) battled through a tough match at #4 singles, taking down Natalie Schoenherr 7-6, 7-5. Nicole Martinez had no trouble at #5 singles, defeating Molli Runestad 6-3, 6-1. Anna Vanderhyde completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amy Adams at #6 singles.

This impressive performance solidified a clean 6-0 victory for the Holy Cross College women's tennis team, moving them forward with momentum as they look ahead to their next match.
