Women's Tennis ITA Central-East Regional Championships

The Holy Cross College Women's tennis team had an outstanding performance at the ITA Regional Tournament held from September 10-13 at Notre Dame, Indiana.The tournament saw players from 4 different colleges and universities. The event saw the Holy Cross women's players making their mark with exceptional performances.
 
Tournament Champions
Congratulations to the dynamic duo of Sofia Rocha (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Nicole Martinez (Villavicencio, Colombia), who clinched the Ladies Doubles title. Their victory at the regional tournament guarantees them a spot in the 16-person National Tournament. The team will now prepare to represent Holy Cross on the national stage in Rome, GA on October 12th-13th
 
Tournament Runners-Up
A commendable effort was also made by Victoria Savvides (Limassol, Cyprus) and Leah Gonzales-Edwards (London, England), who finished as the runners-up in the Ladies Doubles category. Their impressive run in the tournament has also earned them a chance to qualify for the National Tournament, pending selection.
 
Freshman Highlights
A special shoutout goes to the freshmen who made their remarkable debut in collegiate tennis. Sofia Rocha, Maren Woelfer (Granger, Indiana), and Emery Porter (Breman, Indiana) each earned their first collegiate wins as members of the Saints, showcasing their potential and setting the stage for future success.
 
The Holy Cross College tennis team's performance at the ITA Regional Tournament highlights the strength and depth of the program,under the guidance of Eric Mahone who is in his 7th season as head coach, and the players' accomplishments have set a promising tone for the upcoming national competition.
 
The Holy Cross College Saints compete in eight intercollegiate sports for men and women. Holy Cross has produced 205 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors and 108 All-Conference members, and seven NAIA All-Americans. Founded in 1966, Holy Cross College is a Catholic, residential, coed, four-year institution of higher learning, offering an applied liberal arts curriculum. The mission of Holy Cross College is to educate and form global citizens with the competence to see and the courage to act.
