Saints fall in the NAIA National Tournament First Round

Holy Cross wrapped up a remarkable season on Thursday with a hard-fought 0–5 result against Spring Arbor (MI) in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament in Marshall, Missouri. Though the final score didn't reflect the grit and determination of the Saints, the team showed tremendous heart on the national stage and represented Holy Cross with pride.

Spring Arbor applied pressure early and often, but the Saints' defensive unit held strong throughout the first half. Goalkeeper Janiah Juarez delivered one of her best performances of the season, recording 9 saves — several of them highlight-worthy stops that kept Holy Cross within striking distance for much of the match.

Despite limited attacking opportunities, Holy Cross continued to fight. Emma Vono and Quinn Pankiewicz each recorded shots on goal, pushing the Saints forward in the second half as they searched for a breakthrough.

Defensively, the Saints battled a relentless Spring Arbor offense that generated 23 shots on the afternoon. After a 1–0 halftime deficit — the lone goal an unfortunate own goal in the 36th minute — Holy Cross continued to compete, even as Spring Arbor added 4 more in the second half.

While the result ended the Saints' National Tournament run, it capped off a season defined by resilience, late-season momentum, and a well-earned national tournament spot. Holy Cross finishes the year 10-7-3, a record that reflects both growth and competitive consistency.

The Saints walk away from Missouri with their heads high — proud, accomplished, and with a postseason experience that will fuel the program moving forward.
