Saints Edged 1-0 at Rochester Christian

Washington, Mich. — The Holy Cross College women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Rochester Christian on Friday evening despite outshooting their opponent 14-5.

 

The Saints applied steady pressure throughout the match, with Quinn Pankiewicz and Miriam Iturriaga-Sanchez leading the attack. Both recorded multiple shots on goal, while Erika Perez and Abigail Fouts also forced saves from the Rochester goalkeeper. In total, Holy Cross tallied 10 shots on frame but were denied each time.

 

Rochester Christian scored the game's lone goal in the 17th minute, and the Saints battled hard to equalize the rest of the way. Janiah Juarez kept Holy Cross within striking distance, recording 3 saves in goal.

 

Despite the final scoreline, the Saints controlled possession and created quality opportunities.

 

With the result, Holy Cross moves to 1-4-0 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next match against Wednesday September 13th at home. Kick off is set for 7:00PM.
