Saints Close Regular Season at Viterbo University
The Holy Cross College women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season Saturday with a 86–72 road loss to Viterbo inside R.W. Beggs, Sr. Gymnasium.
Holy Cross finishes the regular season 15–13 overall and 11–9 in conference play.
Allie Caldwell delivered a dominant performance to lead the Saints, pouring in 41 points while going a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line. She also added 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Kaiden Hanley contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds, giving Holy Cross another double-double effort in the contest.
Brock Bittermann added five points and seven rebounds, while reserves Mackenzie Hackleman and Malea Steele each chipped in 3 points off the bench.
The Saints held a 26–12 advantage in points in the paint and outscored Viterbo 16–14 in second-chance points. However, 22 Viterbo points off turnovers and 26 bench points proved to be the difference. Holy Cross shot 41.2% from the field and an impressive 48.1% from three-point range, but the hosts capitalized on key stretches to pull away in the fourth quarter.
Despite the result, the Saints showed fight throughout the regular season and now shift their focus to postseason action.
