Women's Basketball falls to Governors State

First Half:
The Holy Cross College women's basketball team honored its senior class on Senior Night, recognizing Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, IN / Bishop Dwenger HS), Grace Adams (Elkhart, IN / Penn HS), Elizabeth Edmonds (Argos, Indiana / Argos High School), Jordyn Smith (Granger, IN / Penn HS), and Carly Spradling (Canal Fulton, OH / Northwest High School) for their contributions to the program. The Saints got off to a slow start offensively, falling behind 23-11 after the first quarter. Smith led the team with 6 early points, while Adams, Edmonds, and Spradling also contributed. The Holy Cross looked to gain momentum in the second quarter but continued to face challenges against a tough Governors State defense. Hammel, Adams, and Smith each tallied 4 points in the half, while Caldwell provided a spark off the bench with 4 points, including 2 free throws. Hanley also added a basket, but the Saints headed into the locker room down by 17.

Second Half:
The Holy Cross College women's basketball team fought hard in the second half, but their comeback effort fell short as they dropped a 65-56 decision to Governors State on Senior Night. Trailing 55-44 at halftime, Allie Caldwell led the charge with 6 points, knocking down 2 crucial three-pointers, while Hammel and Adams each added 4 points. Lindesmith chipped in at the free-throw line, and the Saints' defensive intensity helped cut the deficit to 55-44 heading into the fourth quarter. Holy Cross continued to battle in the final frame, but Governors State managed to hold them off down the stretch. Caldwell finished as the Saints' top scorer with 10 points, hitting 2 three-pointers, while Hammel and Adams each recorded 10 points. Despite a strong defensive effort and key contributions from multiple players, the Saints were unable to complete the comeback. Although the game ended in a loss, the night was still a special moment for seniors Kayliana Hammel, Grace Adams, Elizabeth Edmonds, Jordyn Smith, and Carly Spradling, who were honored for their dedication to the program.
