Saints Dominate Against Trinity Christian and Grace Adams break All-Time Scoring Record

First Half:

The Holy Cross College women's basketball team delivered a commanding first-half performance, storming to a 41-15 lead over Trinity Christian at the break. The Saints came out firing in the opening quarter, overwhelming the Trolls with relentless defense and efficient shooting. Holy Cross shot an impressive 14-of-23 from the field in the first 10 minutes, jumping out to a 30-2 lead. Grace Adams (Elkhart, IN / Penn HS) and Brooke Lindesmith (Crown Point, IN / Crown Point HS) set the tone early, each scoring nine points in the period, while Jordyn Smith (Granger, IN / Penn HS) facilitated the offense with 3 assists. Defensively, the Saints controlled the glass, outrebounding Trinity Christian 17-4 in the opening frame. The second quarter saw the Saints cool off slightly, shooting 5-of-18 from the field, but their defensive pressure remained strong. Adams added another 4 points, bringing her first-half total to 13 on a near-perfect 6-of-7 shooting. Allie Caldwell (Zionsville, IN / Zionsville HS) knocked down a three-pointer, and Lilly Toppen  (DeMotte, IN / Kankakee Valley HS) provided key minutes off the bench. Holy Cross continued to force turnovers and limit Trinity Christian's scoring opportunities, maintaining their defensive dominance.

Second Half: 

The Holy Cross College women's basketball team maintained their dominance in the second half, outscoring Trinity Christian 42-23 en route to an 83-38 victory. The Saints continued to control the tempo in the third quarter, adding 22 points while limiting the Trolls to just 9. Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, IN / Bishop Dwenger HS) led the way with 6 points, while Allie Caldwell and Grace Adams combined for 9. The Saints dominated the boards, grabbing 15 rebounds in the quarter, with Caldwell pulling down 5. Despite struggling from three-point range, Holy Cross found success inside and at the free-throw line, converting all 3 of their attempts. In the fourth quarter, the Saints' depth shined as multiple players contributed to the scoring. Jordyn Smith and Adams each added 4 points, while Kaiden Hanley (Macy, IN / North Miami HS) and Elizabeth Edmonds (Argos, Indiana / Argos High School) provided a spark off the bench with 4 points apiece. The defense remained relentless, forcing turnovers and securing 13 rebounds to limit Trinity Christian's opportunities.

In addition to the team's dominant 83-38 win over Trinity Christian, senior Grace Adams etched her name into Holy Cross College history, becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,804 career points. Adams' consistent offensive presence throughout the game helped her surpass the previous record, solidifying her legacy as one of the Saints' greatest players.
