
Saints Dominate to Secure 92-51 Win Over Calumet
First Half:
The Holy Cross College women's basketball team put together a commanding first-half performance, racing out to a 50-22 lead over Calumet College of St. Joseph before securing a dominant victory. The Saints came out firing in the opening quarter, outscoring Calumet 32-7, and maintained their momentum with an 18-15 second quarter to take full control heading into halftime. Holy Cross set the tone early with a blistering offensive display in the first quarter, shooting 12-for-22 from the field. Their defensive intensity was equally impressive, forcing turnovers and limiting Calumet to just seven points. Lilly Toppen provided an early spark off the bench, scoring eight points, while Grace Adams (Elkhart, IN / Penn HS) and Allie Caldwell (Zionsville, IN / Zionsville HS) each contributed seven to fuel the Saints' explosive start. The second quarter saw Jordyn Smith (Granger, IN / Penn HS) take over, scoring 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting while adding two steals. Adams remained a force inside, finishing the half with 13 points and nine rebounds. The Saints continued their efficiency from the free-throw line, making all six of their attempts in the period to extend their lead.
Second Half:
The Saints maintained their dominant performance in the second half, outscoring Calumet 42-29 to seal a commanding 92-51 victory. The Saints continued their efficient offensive execution while applying relentless defensive pressure to cruise to the win. The third quarter saw Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, IN / Bishop Dwenger HS) and Grace Adams lead the way, each scoring 10 points. Hammel remained perfect from the field and converted all four of her free-throw attempts, while Adams was a force on both ends, adding two steals and two rebounds. Allie Caldwell knocked down a three-pointer as part of her five-point effort, while Jordyn Smith contributed across the board with five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. The Saints shot 40% from the field in the quarter and capitalized on their opportunities at the free-throw line, making 9-of-11 attempts. With the game well in hand heading into the fourth quarter, the Saints' bench stepped up to close things out. Audrey Tallent (Plainfield, IN / Plainfield HS) led the team with six points, including a three-pointer, while Elizabeth Edmonds (Argos, Indiana / Argos High School) added six points and five rebounds inside. Holy Cross remained active on the glass, pulling down 11 rebounds in the period while limiting Calumet's second-chance opportunities.
