Saints Take Home Big Win in Home Opener

First Half: 

The Saints had a close game going into halftime being tied  25-25 against Mount Vernon Nazarene. Sophomore standout Lilly Toppen (Demotte, IN/ Kankakee Valley HS) made a huge impact, hitting 3 of 7 from inside the arc and finishing the first half with an impressive 6 points. Senior Grace Adams (Elkhart, IN/Penn HS) also contributed for the Saints in first half, adding 9 points with a solid shooting performance, going 3 for 4 from the free-throw line. 

The team's defense was stifling, with Grace Adams grabbing 9 rebounds—6 of which were defensive—helping to limit Mount Vernon's second-chance opportunities. 

Second Half: 

The energy on the court surged in the second half as the Saints gained more momentum. Senior Jordyn Smith (Granger, IN/ Penn HS) gained 9 points for the team in the second half going 3-3 from the free throw line the rest of her points came from within the paint. Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, IN/Bishop Dwenger HS) also put points up for the Saints in the second half, finishing with 7 points going 1-2 from both the 3-point line and the field. She finished the game going 6-6 from the free-throw line.  

The Saints continued to extend their lead, demonstrating their depth and drive as the game progressed. Contributions from the bench were crucial, maintaining the momentum and ensuring a well-rounded team effort. The Saints would go on to win the game 80-65.
