Saints Fall to Bellarmine in Hard-Fought Match

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Holy Cross College men's tennis team battled against NCAA Division I opponent Bellarmine University but ultimately fell 5-2 on the road.

The Saints started strong in doubles play, securing the crucial point with wins in two of the three matches. The duo of Oscar Wai and Naithaolin Golmei delivered a clutch 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Thoman Friesen and Matthew Jezky edged out a 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles to give Holy Cross an early 1-0 lead.

Despite the momentum from doubles, singles play proved challenging for the Saints. Bellarmine responded by sweeping the first five singles matches in straight sets. Ciaran McCarthy battled in a tight match at No. 5 singles but ultimately fell 7-6, 6-0 to Louie Fletcher.

The lone singles victory for Holy Cross came from Thoman Friesen at No. 6, as he secured a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 win over Brent Reynolds.

With the loss, the Saints move to 0-1 on the season. They will look to bounce back in their next match as they return home to take on their next opponent.
