COACH COMMENTS
"Anytime you reach the halfway point of the season and don't have a win, it can be a bit demoralizing for our players. We've had to explain to our group that ties are just as important at this level. Heading into the 2nd half of the season, we stressed it being a new season and an opportunity for us to quickly move up the table due to our play. I felt the last few games we've played well enough, that it was only a matter of time until we got the result we needed. Heading into the Ambrose match, the guys did a great job keeping calm and not adding pressure on themselves.
Our players fully bought into some tactical adjustments we made, and their discipline in our re-press moments was very positive. Whether guys played 2 min or 90 min, everyone seemed to buy in. In our pressing moments, the communication stood out, the intensity levels were high, and you could see the will they had to win was there.
It's an important result for the playoff standings, but there's still a lot of work to do. We have a goal of making the tournament, especially after not getting in last year, and this result will help increase our chances. We'll enjoy the result, but it is important we stay humble and focus on the next match." -Omar Gallo
