Saints taken down 3-0 by Marian

The Holy Cross College men's soccer team traveled to Marian for a regular season match Wednesday night. Holy Cross would enter halftime tied 0-0 against the Knights . The men's team battled for 90 minuets on the road but succumbed to a 3-0 loss, all goals against in the second half. They showed resilience throughout the game, with their 6 shots on goal compared to the Knights 5 in the second half highlighting their offensive potential, yet they could not quite overcome the Knights' strong performance. Holy Cross is currently holding a record of 1-2-0 for the season.

COACH COMMENTS

"I felt the first half we executed perfectly, and the guys were disciplined, had intensity in their defensive shape, and put them in position to get a positive result.  In the second half, we came out flat unfortunately and against a quality team like Marian, that can't happen. Focusing on the positives, we had 6 chances to score, with 3 of those being very clear chances that could have changed the game, especially early on. The loss is tough, but the positives are that we are in a position to score multiple goals in games. It's another learning opportunity for this young group that we must finish our chances or else it can come back and hurt us in the end and that's what happened yesterday. We'll continue to grow from this and hope to put some goals in the back of the net Saturday at home." - Omar Gallo

NEXT TIME OUT:
